Happy Gilmore

Tour Expectation

GM. Please take 5 min to read this newsletter (477 words). We want to make sure you are aligned with the tour expectations. This is very important!

BTW, in the IAGT tour, the players have more fun than Happy Gilmore….

Oh Yeah…Let’s get this tour started!

Just like in the movie, how Happy Gilmore is able to find his “Happy Space”, we hope that all Desi golfers will be able to do the same at IAGT. Whether you play ice hockey or cricket, tennis or kabbadi, IAGT got you covered…

Now, to make sure we are all happy in the league, there are a few expectations of all the participating players. Please read below and make sure you able to meet these requirements

  1. Minimum Participation: you are expected to participate in at least four (4) of the seven tour events (7) that are organized. Players must participate in at least 3 of the first 5 events to qualify for the Finale. We understand in summer folks have travel plans, hence please make sure you can play the minimum required tour events

  2. Playing with Strangers: this is a “Tour” event and not a Golf Outing. The key difference is that you may be playing rounds with strangers, who hopefully will become friends over time. We do NOT take requests for pairing. All pairings in 2023 will be done based on handicap and/or standing points

  3. Playing in bad weather: if the course is open, we are playing the event. Last year we played our first event in April in Bolingbrook GC with 25-30 mph wind. No refunds for last min (less than a week) withdrawals….

Rain or shine….if the course is open….we are playing the event!

  1. Pace of Play: is the most important element of the tour. Our goal is to finish rounds in 4h30min or less. So you need to be willing to play fast. We will share more details on this in coming weeks…

  2. Sign up for CDGA Handicap: we are asking all players who don’t have formal USGA/CDGA or GHIN handicap to sign-up for one this year. The annual cost is minimal (~$50). Next year, we plan to only admit players with a formal handicap...

  3. Honor System & Golf Etiquette: IAGT tour is played on the honor system by proper rules of golf. We expect each player to abide by rules and follow proper golf etiquette (e.g., being quiet when others are playing, not walking on others’ putt line, etc.). Definitely no tantrums…

No yelling or cursing. Goddammit!!

If you feel, you can’t meet these expectations, we humbly request you to withdraw from the tour. We will be happy to refund your full registration fees (less transaction cost), by end of Feb, with no questions asked

As the movie coach, Chubbs would say, “It’s all in the hips…”

So, keep swinging brothers!!
